Settings/Processors to defeat macroblocking/pixellation in near black

Hey folks,

I love my EG9100 but I am occasionally bothered by artifacts, particularly when watching DirecTV. The new season of "Twin Peaks" has really brought these to the fore for me. Many of its dark scenes show blocking/pixellation in dark greys or dark colors, and I've seen some color banding as well (on this show as well as some other content). The only setting I've found in the TV that has an effect is Noise Reduction (MPEG Noise Reduction doesn't seem to do much of anything). I've set it on Low for now for certain content, as Medium and High tend to obscure intended detail more than I'd like (and High also creates some blurring artifacts of its own). Has anyone had success reducing these compression artifacts with either settings or an outboard processor/video player?

A side note: Some of these artifacts are also visible on the IPS panel in my living room, but they're much more evident on the OLED, I presume due to the better black reproduction.
