Serving Data to My LG OLED

Flat Panel General & New FP Tech - www.avsforum.com
Either I've lost my Google-Fu, or this is curiously undiscussed anywhere on the internet.

Just got an LG OLED55B7A. I want to try some downloaded cool 4K demos (eg this stuff and

this

).

I understand that the normal way is via a USB flash drive.

Questions:

1. The LG manual is ambiguous as to whether it accommodates USB 2 or USB 3

2. Does this actually upload the files to the TV - i.e. does it have data storage? - or does it play right from the flash drive? If it uploads to TV, I assume there's an interface for managing files?

3. Can I accomplish this without the physical USB drive, e.g. via Plex, or some other wifi server magic? FWIW I use a Mac. I do have a Roku. Hoping to get an Apple TV as well.

Obviously, I want to enjoy all the quality and 4K UHD HDR goodness, so I don't want to do anything that might reduce quality/resolution/etc.
