HELP - Sudden Receiver Volume Level Change & Speaker Distortion

Pioneer VSX-530-K receiver with BIC FH56 speaker

Just got through hurricane Irma here in FL with numerous power outages. Finally got steady power and cable, so fired up the Roku and watched a movie. Immediately noticed that the volume needed to be turned way down from the level I usually have it at (50) to like 35ish. Kind of odd since I hadn't changed any settings since firing everything back up. Also, anything above "level" dialogue got noticeably crackly, and action sequences (explosions in particular) sounded horribly distorted, despite the volume not being overly high. My concern is that one of the power surges damaged the receiver and/or speaker. Everything is still sounding the way it should, except the volume level change and distortion (never noticed any before...and I listen to stuff loudly).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
