Getting more bass from the turntable

2 Channel Audio - www.avsforum.com
Whilst avoiding the 'which is better' arguments I wanted to post a question.

All I'm wanting to do is maximise my experience without shedding out more cash, so that's the exam question to deal with

I have my TT linked up via a phono pre-amp. Whilst it sounds pretty nice I did an experiment at the weekend :

When I flip using the same song, from one input to another i.e. from lossless ALAC or even an AAC 192 to and fro to the album playing, there seems to be very much lacking bottom end on the album compared with the digital version. Could this be the cheap pre amp or something else ? As I say, using the same amp, speakers, same volume ( adjusting the vinyl up to match as close as possible )

No it's not scientific and I'm liking the whole vinyl experience but wanted to maximise within the bounds of the gear that I have, so looking for any small adjustments or small wins so that the vinyl doesn't end up back in the cupboard.
