speaker layout suggestions needed

General Home Theater & Media/Game Rooms - www.avsforum.com
I recently have finished my basement. I have wired for the speakers in numerous locations I thought I would use. I chose to use in-wall speakers to keep my young children from damaging them.

I currently have the ability for a 7.1 system but am wondering if the placement of speakers is worth it because they are not in ideal locations. I have speakers as indicated in the picture with the exception, I have not cut the round ceiling speakers in yet. With a 7.1 system I realize I should have had some speakers behind the couch but with the foam insulation I used, I could not make an in-wall speaker work.

I can cut in some round speakers in the ceiling for a set but because they are not in ideal locations, should I even bother or stay with a 5.1? The placement of the round speakers can vary anywhere from the location shown to just above the couch.

I also should note that I have already purchased the speakers.
