Adding sconces on either side of a TV?

General Home Theater & Media/Game Rooms - www.avsforum.com
I have a media room that is part of a larger room that I am finishing out. We were considering using two of our 'extra' wall sconces and putting them on the wall with the tv, but like 2' away from the left and right edges of the TV. I thought the effect would be nice as well as add some ambient light. We would put them on dimmers. Is there any reason this is a terrible idea? There is no chance this room will ever be anything other than a media room. Speakers will be in the wall. Just wanted to see if it was dumb.
