House Construction Begins - Have to Decide Basement Mechanical/3pc Rough In
Short and sweet intro- There's a hole in the ground for our new house and builder needs to know where to put mechanical and 3pc (or 2pc if we want) plumbing rough in. I will use the basement as a general theater/bar/kids play area and be building it myself after we get occupancy and are ready to start. This is the first house we've built and I'm overwhelmed with the decisions - trying not to screw up too big and regret later!
Basement is ~50ft x 30ft. I sketched up a couple ideas below. Mechcanicals have to go on one side or the other side, and the furnace has to be passed the guide line I drew in (this is the main I-beam for the house, so the main hvac runs need to clear). I need to make this decision as well as where to put the bathroom rough in, which I'm struggling greatly with. Also, basement is a daylight basement, so I need to decide the two window locations (you can see these drawn in the sketchup too).
The above two pics are with the mechanical on teh left side of the house and the bathroom shoved into a corner. I also have a spare room (maybe a guest room) that I could stash my media rack, etc in for the theater area. I'm not in love with the bathroom size/locations, but the other open area (guest room I mention) is waaaay too big for a bathroom. Thoughts? FYI, screen shown is 135". All the models are things I downloaded from SketchUp warehouse - not necessarily my intention, but I need to decide mech and bathroom!
Here is mech on teh right. I can't figure out a way to make this work. After walling off the theater, I have a long hallway next to it that I am not sure what to do with.
Any feedback, large or small, is appreciated.
