Small Media/Cinema Room Questions

General Home Theater & Media/Game Rooms - www.avsforum.com
I'm in the market for a replacement home, and one of the requirements I gave my wife was that I get a dedicated media/cinema room.

We've found a place, but the proposed cinema room is smaller than I'd like it to be. However, it checks off a lot of other items on our list, so I'd like to see if we can make it work.

One of the biggest concerns is sound-proofing. We currently live in a block home. It seems to do a pretty good job of keeping the subterranean frequencies (flat to 8Hz, at or near ref) in the house.

The proposed cinema room is at the very front of the house, has nearly three full walls exposed to the exterior, 2X6 construction, and on a cul-de-sac. I've never had a problem with neighbors at our current residence, but I'm concerned it will be a problem in the new neighborhood.

The room is 14'6" x 10'3", with a window on the long wall. The entry door is on the opposite wall in the corner, with a short entryway. Adjacent to the entry is a small closet. The vaulted ceiling slopes up from the windowed wall to the entry door wall.

My current setup consists of a 5.3.4 sound system, and a *small* 65" OLED about 8.5' from the seating area. I'd like to expand that to 7.4.4 (or 9.4.4 ), and at least a 75" panel, or possibly a projector setup (or both).

Right now I'm mainly concerned with determining if this room will be too small after adding sound-proofing, but I have some other questions as well.

Will the 2x6\stucco construction leak more bass energy than block?

How much room space will be consumed to "reasonably" sound-proof the room?

Will my low-end room-gain be negatively affected by not having exterior block construction?

Which wall would you put the screen\panel on?

Should I put in a drop ceiling?

The home in question was built in the early 90's. I've attached a pic of the room plan for reference (very low res, sorry).

Thanks in advance for any input.
