jbl l65 with L300 midrange?

Speakers - AudioKarma.org Home Audio Stereo Discussion Forums - www.audiokarma.org
Hello,

Would like some advice on how it would sound to make custom speakers with the tweeters from a JBL L65, midrange from a JBL L300, and the woofer from a JBL L65. And would it be ok to use the crossover from an L65?

I have a cool, old, Curtis Mathis stereo console that I want to customize with vintage JBL drivers. My original plan was to use JBL L65 components (I already have the tweeters, midrange, and crossover from an L65). But since I'm buying each driver individually, I've read that the midrange driver on the L65 isn't that great, and that an L300 is better. I can't fit the L300 woofers otherwise I would go for a full L300 setup.

Any advice on how set this up or even on other setup ideas that would go with the 077 tweeter? Can't fit bigger than 12" woofer.

thanks
