Simple project: Install plate amp on passive

Speakers - AudioKarma.org Home Audio Stereo Discussion Forums - www.audiokarma.org
I recently bought a ton of sub's for $5 from a thrift store.

I bought Pioneer, Sony, Altec and some "Gekko" sub's.

Turns out the Gekko sub had a seized sub but the plate amp was fine. So I now had a working plate amp and a passive Sony sub. Then it all just made sense.

Getting the Jigsaw ready!

Cut and ready to install.

On the left is a professionally, factory built Pioneer sub. On the right is the Sony with the newly installed Gekko plate amp. As you can see it is perfectly flush with the enclosures sides which is pretty luckily a near flawless fit.

Hooked up to my Sony DA-3000ES, the sound is good.

Just for fun I have an all silver Pioneer sub and receiver combo too. The Sony is outperforming it!

Sent from my HP Slate 7 HD using Forum Fiend v1.2.5.
