GFI Testing

Electrical - A/C & D/C - DoItYourself.com Community Forums - www.doityourself.com
Hello,

On the home inspection, the bathroom GFCI outlet will trip via its test/reset buttons. But we can't get it to trip using a plug in GFCI tester.

I verified correct wiring--line/load and correct hot/neutral polarity. There's no ground and understand GFI's don't need it.

--We tried 2 diff new outlets, no luck.

--We tried taking the load wires off, just connecting the line to the GFI, no luck.

The plug in tester still won't trip it. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

Thanks in advance
