Using 620 watch and Garmin Connect with poor GPS reporting

Forerunner 620 - forums.garmin.com
I have what i suspect is a workflow problem that i would like some advice on. I am not a "professional" runner i run 2 or 3 times a week between 5-10K each run with an occasional 10K fun run . I used to run in the park with a 610 which measured distance almost perfectly and autolapped to within 5 metres on a measured 2.5 KM track which is good enough for tracking progress at my level. I've recently downsized my accomadation and upsized the watch to a 620 and now run multiple 1000M loops in a city area. Initially the watch would not track at all but after configuring for 1 sec GPS 320M does not track in the GPS correctly producing a zig zag mess. My last two identical runs of 7 laps have come in at 5.2K and 7.4 K

What should be my workflow in a situation where the GPS is unreliable ?

I assume i should switch of the GPS as i can see no way to edit or correct the recorded route in GC

I can hit the lap button to do a manual lap count and I can load the total distance using GC "legacy" full edit feature but is there a way to load lap distances in Garmin connect ?

Is there any way i can preload the 1K route so the watch knows this is my standard course and just records 1K if it hits any of the GPS points on that route.
