White Lithium on Pots?

I have a pair of Realistic's..., STA-2000 and STA-2000D. Both suffer from 1 channel either weak or cutting in and out. This is usually resolved by rapping my knuckle on the volume or balance knobs. I have checked and cleaned relays and on the D model I've cleaned these pots at least 3 times over the last few years. The last time I really soaked them with deoxit and worked the hell out of every knob, then a day later I soaked it with Faderlube and worked them again. The next day the channels sounded great...this lasted about a week then the symptoms returned. So I remember this old timer (now retired) that I took my gear to , said that white lithium grease worked great on pots. This guy was in business for years and could fix anything... I have never tried it but I am now thinking that those pots are dried out and may work better with a material that stays 'wet' like white lithium. Any ideas or comments on this?
