Attn: Marantz techs, electronics techs, question. Found or done.
I just "repaired" another Marantz where the problem was an add on electrolytic capacitor.
The type where they show up on the trace side or on the audio line.
They are not on the schematic, and what I've seen and remember, not on other units, same model.
I have been thinking they were factory modification or design change.
I think the ones in matched pairs with factory glue probably are factory mods.
This last unit seemed to work OK, but during a recap, I found some bad caps and it's obvious someone has been in there working on it.
After the recap, one channel was low and crappy.
Turned out, the add on cap on the tone controls on the good channel was the real problem.
Hack repair? Make the circuit right repair by a master?
