Black scenes are too dark

I own a Sony XBR-43X830C. The scenes with light are great. But with the scenes that are dark everything is black including the faces.
Are there settings I can change to fix this? Related messages![]() While watching movies on FIOS, I noticed on very dark scenes, in the darkest areas, the picture seems to be breaking up a bit. It is temporary and disappears after the scene lightens up. Is it due to the settings, being too dark? Any help is appreciated.
![]() Why can you see more macroblocking in dark scenes, than in light scenes? I don't see much if any macroblocking anymore in Blu-rays but I definitely see it in 1080i TV shows.
