Ceiling mounted PJ too close to rear wall?

I am trying to decide where to put my ceiling mounted projector. My wires exit a few inches down from the ceiling on the rear wall, so they will have to stretch across the ceiling to the projector either a few inches or a couple feet. Yes, I probably should have run them in a ceiling joist bay, and maybe will some day.
My question is: can a projector be too close to the rear wall (optics aside since that works either way)? I have a joist at 9", then one at 25". Thank you in advance!
