Criterion Frame Rate Problem?

Blu-ray Software - www.avsforum.com
Some Criterion Blu-Rays I've gotten recently seem to have a sped up frame rate. As the running times of these discs are what they should be, I don't think this issue is due to the player running at PAL speed. It also can't be due to a hardware defect, given that it's showing up on several different players and TVs. Turning image enhancement features - motion interpolation, EE, DNR, etc.-off or on has no effect on it, and so it can't be that either. As I'm only noticing this sped up look with certain Criterion Blu-Ray releases from the past couple of years, I'm wondering if Criterion has developed some kind of authoring problem. Among the titles where this effect is really noticeable are MCCABE and MRS. MILLER, THE ADVENTURES OF ZATOICHI, and JABBERWOCKY. During scenes with horizontal motion, flames, or objects moving in the wind, it's readily apparent that everything is moving faster than it should. While I suppose this effect could be due to the intention of the directors or some problem with frame rates of the cameras used to produce the films, I don't recall noticing this issue on DVD releases of these titles.
