First Home - Theater/Entertainment Setup
So finally finished remodeling my basement chill room. My last past was around new years of 2017 and my son was just born so thing have been on hold. Getting back to it, he's now 15 months and eager to help.
Made a trip to Ikea after picking a wall to decorate and purchased some wall mount/floating shelves.
Sad to say, I had to sell most of my B&W speakers and Rotel amps so i'm down to my Primaluna Amp and pair of CM8's. Not a bad setup but I feel naked without all the stuff I had. Had to downsize, life changes.
Anyways, my Samsung 60" plasma died randomly. Watched Planet earth for about 3 hours and after shutting it off, it never came back on. That was the catalyst that started this ball rolling.
Friday night after work, I went to Ikea, picked up some parts from their "BESTA" lineup. A three section center and two single units for the sides. I was gonna leave more room on the sides to put my CM8's but decided that that probably wouldn't happen anytime soon seeing as how this is the little mans primary play area.
The idea is to wall mount the cabinets, TV and speakers. I can also put ceiling speakers in as well since its a drop ceiling.
Follow along if you please, I could use some advice. Some pics below to get things started off good and proper. That's my little man that put life on hold, having the time of his life helping dad put all the parts together. Couldn't have done it without him!
Instead of mounting them directly to the wall, I decided to build a box from 3/4" poplar that was sitting around. Used enough screws to make the kardashians jealous. No such thing as overkill..
Painted the boards white on the edges that will be visible. Some day I want to put a strip of led's on those wood bracket to light up the wall and show all the imperfections.
