JNIOR Redesign

Dedicated Theater Design & Construction - www.avsforum.com
I designed and am redesigning or expanding on the JNIOR. The JNIOR is a generic controller that can be found in probably better than 30% of commercial digital cinemas. It handles automation. I've been out here looking for technical feedback to be considered for the next design.

I know that the product has been installed in some home theaters. More than likely when those theaters are contracted to companies that handle commercial theaters. Are any of you familiar with it?

I've been carrying on discussions in the Film-Tech forums. Our controller is not rack mounted but is often installed in racks using trays for instance. I am considering a version for rack mounting and want to get that right. You know, everyone has concerns about wiring and access.

There are also some hardware features that are being investigated. For example we have a prototype that includes a form of internal UPS power supply. It's hardware designed to deal with power glitches and brief dropouts. It's odd to unplug something that is not battery powered and yet still have it continue to operate. (video:
