Need help with an issue with hum coming from amplifier
So, I have an Exposure 2010s integrated amplifier. From day one it make a humming noise. The sound comes from the amp, not the speakers. This noise goes up, then down to nothing on roughly a 25 second cycle. The sound can be heard during quiet passages while sitting in my chair. (Also when sitting idle while I am at my desk some 4 feet away from the amp.)
I have tried all sorts of things to stop this noise. I have plugged it into different circuits in my my house. Different interconnects. Different inputs. Inputs coming from different circuits. I tried different (cheap) cables. Nothing seems to stop the sound.
I sent the amp off to the importer who could not get the amp to make the sound. So, no diagnosis was possible.)
I am wondering if there might be a problem with my electrical wiring. (In an ideal world, I would run a direct line from the fuse box but I am not ready to do that, yet.)
I am considering stuff like a higher end power cord, power conditioner (Panamax or Furman???) I don't mind spending some money but don't want to go crazy. I am also reluctant to just start throwing money at the problem.
I would appreciate any thoughts on what might alleviate this annoying hum.
