New Home, New HT
I'll be moving to a new home this summer and am taking the opportunity to update my home theater equipment.
Budget: Looking to spend between $1500-$2500. I'm planning to live in this place for at least five years, but it would be great to have something that wouldn't be limited by moving to a bigger room.
Listening Interests: These will mainly be used for TV, movies and gaming. I will occasionally listen to music, but am planning a whole home system for that.
Existing Equipment: Starting from scratch, but looking at the Denon X6300H AVR.
Room Size: The listening area is about 12'L x 16'W and is open to the dining area and kitchen on the right. The whole room is roughly 26'L x 16'W with 9' ceilings. The couch will be located close to the back wall (hoping for 1-1.5' from the wall).
Placement: Looking to do 5.1.4 with the four Atmos speakers in the ceiling. The surrounds will need to be either wall mounted or on stands (preferred). The subwoofer can go either on the front, left or rear walls.
Aesthetic: I like the subtle look of the Deftech BP-9000 series compared to my friends Polk's S55 (Brown Walnut) speakers.
Considering: I spoke with a Crutchfield rep who suggested 2x DefTech DP-9020, 1x DefTech CS-9060, 2x DefTech Mythos Gem XL, 4x DefTech DI 6.5rR and the DefTech SuperCube 4000. These seem like a good choice, but I've not yet had a chance to listen to them. My only question is if it's worth it to go with the DP-9040. I'm not sure if there are better speakers for my needs.
