a few of Sansui's to restore...order of operations for a newbie?
all my old gear is breaking down on me....even most of my speakers even have issues of some sort!
it's gotten to the point where I need to address my Sansui's, get them back up & running
I have some experience soldering guitar parts and even modded a couple microphones, which was trickier/tinier work
so I am planning to attack them in this order:
1. AU 999 - this appears easiest, as the boards come right out, and I can work on them outside the amp. everything looks pretty straightforward, I'll just take my time & work thru all the mods posted here on AK
2. AU 7700 - this is more complicated, as the chassis is assembled like one of those Japanese mystery wood boxes....harder to get at everything!! but maybe easier than the ones below:
3. EIGHT - sorta similar circuit to the AU 999? but much tighter to get in there...also the tuner could get complicated with the string routing etc?
4. 8080DB - I assume this will be the most difficult. the dolby board *appears* to be working allright, I think it's mostly cap replacing and power supply board upgrades. I would also like to improve the airflow over the tuner power supply, as it gets super hot
does that seem logical?
I will post some progress pics as a FYI
thanks for any input!!
