scratchy sound on right channel

Turntables | Audiokarma Home Audio Stereo Discussion Forums - audiokarma.org
I've got an akai ap100c tt with an at95e cartridge. Whenever i try to listen to it, there is this noise that's driving me insane. It's only on the right channel, and it pulsates, fading in and out. It only shows up when the motor(I think it is AC) is on, even if the stylus is not in contact with the record. If i turn the turntable off, with the cartridge still being amplified, the noise stops. Can I do anything to sort this out?
