Thinking about a new e-reader

I have a Kindle Fire 8.9 that I got in about 2013. I never have really liked it a lot. It is pretty heavy, hard to keep track of your place (bookmarks are clunky) and less convenient than a paper book when trying to find things in the book (books used for reference.) But I am going to be doing some traveling and was thinking perhaps a new, smaller and lighter e-reader would be helpful. Have the Kindle features changed since I got my old one? What about the Oasis. I know it is waterproof, which isn't that necessary for me, but isn't it really over-priced. What about the regular Kindle, Paperwhite or Voyage? I want to stick to an android device.
