Visibility with drop-down TV in front of windows
I am starting to work on a from-scratch house with a view. The great room is going to have one wall that is floor to ceiling windows all the way to the corner, and then a couple windows on the side as well, and with seating arranged viewing towards the window. I'm thinking that using this layout to put a hidden flatscreen TV (drop from ceiling or rise from floor, 70"-80") would be a good arrangement for the existing seating, and still allow viewing outside while watching TV.
But I'm concerned at how watchable the TV will be right in from of the windows. The main view is NNE. From the little I've found commenting online about this setup, it sounds like looking in this direction shouldn't cause glare and shouldn't have too much background contrast to cause issues.
I'm thinking in a room with this many windows, a projector setup wouldn't be ideal. This will be the most used TV in the house, general purpose watching, etc... Not a theater setup. That goes downstairs. :-)
Attached is a mockup of the general concept. Thoughts? Would this work, or be a bad experience?
Thanks for the input.
